Psychology & Society article hit statistics
23 Jan '12Psychology & Society is a unique open access online journal that includes an IP sensitive hit counter for each article, allowing authors to track how many times their article has been downloaded from separate computers. We believe this is a more useful statistic than citation rates for indicating impact, since citation statistics are hugely delayed and depend very much on the motivation and publication rate of the citer. The hit counter tells you how many people have downloaded your article rather than just how many have included it in their own publications' reference lists.
This figure shows the average downloads for each issue published since 2008. It shows that articles published in Psychology & Society average over 1000 downloads after approximately one year online, and over 2000 in two to two-and-a-half years.
